Data Deletion Instructions

Effective Date: April 15, 2026

Last Updated: April 15, 2026

Trovest respects your right to control your personal data. This page explains how to permanently delete your Trovest account and associated data across our web, mobile, and connected services — including Instagram, Facebook, and Google integrations.

1. What Gets Deleted

When you delete your Trovest account, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Account credentials (email, password hash)
  • Profile information (name, subscription tier, preferences)
  • Saved watchlists, scores, and compelling ideas history
  • AI analysis history and SEC filing annotations tied to your account
  • OAuth connections (Instagram, Facebook, Google) — tokens revoked and any platform data we received is purged
  • Session data and authentication tokens

2. What We May Retain (Legal Exceptions)

In limited cases, we are legally required to retain some data even after account deletion:

  • Billing records — retained for 7 years (IRS / financial regulations)
  • Fraud and abuse logs — retained for up to 2 years
  • Anonymized, aggregated usage analytics — retained indefinitely, no longer linkable to you personally

3. Three Ways to Delete Your Data

Method 1 — In-App Deletion (Fastest, Recommended)

  1. Log in at https://app.trovest.io
  2. Navigate to Settings → Account
  3. Click Delete Account
  4. Confirm by typing DELETE and clicking the red Confirm Deletion button
  5. You'll receive an email confirmation within 5 minutes

Note: This immediately triggers our backend deletion process (endpoint: DELETE /api/v1/auth/delete-account). Your account is queued for permanent deletion and will be purged within 30 days.

Method 2 — Email Request

  1. Send an email to support@trovest.io
  2. Use the subject line: Data Deletion Request
  3. Include the email address associated with your Trovest account
  4. We'll send a verification email to the account address to confirm your identity
  5. Once verified, deletion is completed within 30 days (CCPA / GDPR compliant)

Method 3 — Revoke Meta or Google Platform Access

If you connected Trovest via Instagram, Facebook, or Google OAuth, you can revoke our access directly from those platforms:

  • Facebook / Instagram: Go to Facebook Settings → Apps and Websites → Logged in with Facebook → Trovest → Remove
  • Google: Go to your Google Account → Security → Third-party apps with account access → Trovest → Remove Access

Important: Revoking platform access revokes OAuth tokens and deletes the associated platform data we hold — but it does not delete your Trovest account itself. To fully delete your Trovest account, use Method 1 or Method 2.

4. Deletion Timeline

  • Immediate — OAuth tokens revoked, account access disabled, login blocked
  • Within 30 days — Personal data permanently deleted from production databases
  • Within 90 days — Data purged from backups and disaster-recovery snapshots
  • Legal retention exceptions — Billing records (7 years), fraud logs (2 years), anonymized analytics (indefinite)

5. Platform-Specific Data Removal

Instagram and Facebook Integration Data

When you delete your Trovest account or revoke Meta platform access, we immediately delete any Instagram or Facebook data we received — including your profile ID, basic profile information, and any media metadata. Trovest does not retain content from your Meta accounts.

Google Integration Data

When you delete your Trovest account or revoke Google access, all Google OAuth tokens are revoked and any Google profile data we received is purged within 30 days.
